The Lassen County Groundwater Management Plan (GWMP) (available here) formalized and directs the County's commitment to pursue sustainable and beneficial groundwater development and use by its residents. The GWMP directs the County to develop Basin Management Objectives (BMOs). BMOs represent a proactive method of groundwater management that is supported by the Board of Supervisors, staff, and local groundwater users who participated in the development of the GWMP. This website provides access to BMO concepts and information. By utilizing this website's content, those interested can read the GWMP, understand the BMO method of groundwater management, and gain insights on groundwater in their region. . The BMO program is designed to detect declines in groundwater  levels, that when exceeded, calls for actions to be taken to  investigate, notify, and remedy the decline, as appropriate. The  County will be holding meetings in each management area to  discuss the BMO program and to identify and formalize selection  of key wells and action levels for each management area. The  County desires BMOs should reflect local stakeholders' in-depth  knowledge and management objectives for their management  area. Ultimately, it is the County's desire to have BMOs that are  understood and supported by groundwater users in the  respective management area.  The County, while working with a BMO working group, has  identified 12 management areas, shown on the  Management  Areas tab. Each management area has a unique set of features, from water use to hydrogeology,  monitoring to surface water features. A guidance document has been prepared for each  management area. These guidance documents, which provide an overview of the BMO program, a  description of the management area, and information and recommendations for setting BMOs, are  available on the Management Area Guidance Documents tab.  Basin Management Objectives Summary Click Image to Enlarge View Home Page
